- 12 pancakes (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, gouda, mozzarella, or pepper jack)
- 1 cup pure maple syrup
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup milk (whole or milk substitute)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned and fully cooked, then drain excess fat.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, maple syrup, baking powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Grease a baking dish and layer half of the pancakes at the bottom.
- Spread the cooked sausage evenly over the pancakes, then sprinkle half of the shredded cheese on top.
- Pour half of the egg mixture over the sausage and cheese layer.
- Layer the remaining pancakes on top, followed by the rest of the sausage and cheese.
- Pour the remaining egg mixture over everything, covering well.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the egg is set and the top is golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving and drizzle with extra maple syrup if desired.
