Description

A comforting and festive lasagna perfect for Christmas Eve gatherings, layered with rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and gooey mozzarella.


Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef or sausage
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground meat and brown for about 7-10 minutes, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  4. Pour in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Mix the ricotta cheese, egg, parsley, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  6. Assemble the lasagna: spread a layer of meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish, place 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, add half of the ricotta mixture and a sprinkle of mozzarella. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of meat sauce and Parmesan on top.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let the lasagna cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey or chicken. For vegetarian, use layers of spinach and mushrooms instead of meat.
