Description

Soft and pillowy sugar cookie bars topped with creamy frosting, perfect for any celebration.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Sprinkles (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and airy.
  5. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, beating until smooth.
  6. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined.
  7. Spread the dough evenly in the baking dish.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let the bars cool in the pan.
  10. To prepare the frosting, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  11. Spread the frosting over the cooled bars and top with sprinkles.
  12. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

These bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week or individually wrapped and frozen for later.
