Description
A delightful and customizable homemade pizza recipe that brings creativity and joy to the cooking experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Pizza sauce
- Cheese (mozzarella or your choice)
- Various toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, olives)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Allow the mixture to rest for 5-10 minutes until it froths delightfully.
- Prepare the dough: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center, pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough: Dust your countertop lightly with flour and turn the dough out onto it. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let it rise: Place in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat the oven: Turn your oven to 475°F (245°C) as the dough rises.
- Shape the pizza: Once risen, punch down the dough, transfer it to a floured surface, roll it out to your desired thickness, and place it on your stone or greased baking sheet.
- Assemble your masterpiece: Spread sauce, sprinkle cheese, and add toppings.
- Bake: Slide into the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Slice and enjoy: Allow cooling for a minute before slicing and savoring your creation.
Notes
For a healthier twist, consider using whole wheat flour or various sauces. Make-ahead dough can be frozen for future use.
