Description

A mouthwatering dish featuring crispy chicken breasts coated in a crunchy pretzel crust, served with a creamy cheddar-mustard sauce.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups pretzel crumbs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season the chicken generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Set up your breading station with three shallow dishes: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for pretzel crumbs.
  4. Coat each chicken breast in flour, shaking off the excess.
  5. Dip each chicken breast in the beaten egg, letting any excess drip off before pressing it into the pretzel crumbs.
  6. Heat a good amount of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  7. Fry the chicken for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  8. Transfer the chicken to a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  9. Prepare your sauce by combining cheddar cheese, Dijon mustard, and sour cream in a saucepan over low heat.
  10. Serve the chicken hot, drizzling with the mustard-cheddar sauce.

Notes

You can prepare the chicken and coat it in pretzel crumbs a day in advance. Store it in the refrigerator until ready to cook.
