- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups cooked ham, diced
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- ¼ cup butter
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Paprika for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onions and garlic until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Combine the heavy cream and milk in a mixing bowl, season with salt and pepper, and whisk until blended.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the diced ham, and half of the shredded cheese in a greased baking dish. Repeat the layers.
- Pour the cream mixture evenly over the layers.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Garnish with paprika before serving.
Notes
Assemble the dish a day in advance and refrigerate it before baking for better flavor. Customize with your favorite vegetables or cheese.
