Description

A classic comfort food, spaghetti and meatballs brings nostalgic warmth and rich flavors to your table with perfectly cooked pasta and savory meatballs smothered in marinara sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces Spaghetti
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1/2 cup Bread Crumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/3 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 Onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 2 cups Marinara Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Basil, torn

Instructions

  1. Cook the Spaghetti: Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add your spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions, typically 10-12 minutes, until al dente. Reserve a cup of pasta water before draining, then drizzle olive oil over the spaghetti to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, grated Parmesan, minced garlic, diced onion, salt, and pepper. Mix gently to maintain tenderness.
  3. Form Meatballs: Shape the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place them on a tray to rest.
  4. Brown the Meatballs: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and brown them on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Simmer in Marinara Sauce: Pour marinara sauce over the browned meatballs and simmer on low for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Serve: Plate the spaghetti, top with meatballs and sauce, and garnish with basil and Parmesan.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prep meatballs ahead and freeze them. Ensure they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C) when cooking.
